about
Originally, Woolbright set out to secretly write and record this song during her engagement in 2020, with plans to gift her soon-to-be husband at their wedding. But like most plans in 2020, hers for this song crumbled due to the pandemic pushing back the ability to record, as well as delaying their wedding celebration. Woolbright and her now husband ended up getting married in their backyard 3 months prior to when they had planned. Now happily married in 2021, Woolbright is finally getting to gift her husband with this groovy love track. It has hints of old school soul and motown sounds, but still maintains a modern pop flare. Long Game was written as a direct love letter to her beloved, but is also meant to serve as an anthem for lovers everywhere who are playing the “long game”!
Verse:
That red hair, yeah it caught me from the start
Didn’t even know your middle name; you had my heart
Started off slow but who were we to thwart the magic
From that first kiss I knew our love would be a classic
Chorus:
With you I don’t need no back up plan
I’m putting both feet in, trembling, with your heart in my hand
When the whole world comes crashing down
I’ll still be your bride, at your side, with two feet on the ground
Post-Chorus:
Yeah I’m in it for the long game
I’m here to stay
Yeah I’m in it for the long game
So come what may
Cause I’m all in
Verse:
Six weeks in, yeah you told me you’re in love
Cause for concern, but I swore to them it was from above
November came, 8 months in, you were on one knee
You looked me in the eyes; promised to always take care of me
Chorus:
With you I don’t need no back up plan
I’m putting both feet in, trembling, with your heart in my hand
When the whole world comes crashing down
I’ll still be your bride, by your side, with two feet on the ground
Post-Chorus:
Yeah I’m in it for the long game
I’m here to stay
Yeah I’m in it for the long game
So come what may
Bridge:
I do I do I do wanna share this life
I do I do I do take you to be mine
I do I do I do take you to be mine
Chorus:
With you I don’t need no back up plan
I’m putting both feet in, trembling, with your heart in my hand
When the whole world comes crashing down
I’ll still be your bride, by your side, with two feet on the ground
Interlude:
I’m in it for the long game
I’m in it for the long game
Outro:
Yeah I’m in it for the long game
With you babe
Yeah I’m in it for the long game
So come what may
Cause I’m all in
